a new beginning

noticed anything that changed? Like maybe the site? Like the name?

Let me just start out by saying, I'm sad to see "pens and a camera lens" go, but it's just something that had to happen.
I'm trying to actually build my design business and having a design shop with one name and a blog with another just wasn't going to work. Beyond that, I feel like the new name is part of the next chapter in my life.

Yesterday was my last day of high school. In fact, in just a few minutes, the last kids (elementary) will be dismissed for the summer. Us seniors got out a day early because we're just that awesome.

Monday is graduation. Next Thursday and next Friday, I'll be off at freshman orientation. I've got bearkat camp (spirit camp) the first full week of August. Two weeks after that, I'll move for the first time in thirteen years.

But with the end of high school, I feel like this summer I'm going to be thrown into the world of adults, face first. They got tired of me dipping my toes in.

Which is why all these changes are here on the blog - to reflect the changes of my life.

Just a few changes to the blog:

  • new name/design
  • paid sponsorships
  • newsletter
  • updated pages
  • more guest bloggers
New name and design: This one is pretty obvious. It goes back with the whole new chapter of my life thing.
Paid Sponsorships: I'm bringing these back, but on the bright side, the most expensive one is only $10 and I'm offering 40% off. Just use the "New40" in the code box to save!
Newsletter: Yes, I'm going to offer a newsletter. It'll be bi-weekly and will have updates from the blog, like popular posts and news on the shop.
Subscribe to our newsletter
Updated Pages: I shouldn't say this seeing as I haven't actually imported the pages in (I put most of this in at 12 this morning, so they'll be up later today.
More Guest Bloggers: I think that sums itself up.

I hope y'all join me on this wonderful transition. I'm super excited!

TIGF: Things I'm Grateful For

From And A DIY Life,
Sometimes we forget it’s the little things that matter in life and forget how easy it can be to be happy. So we’re making an effort to ensure that doesn’t happen by listing the things we’re grateful for/appreciate from the previous week every Friday.

Starting today, I'm co-hosting a link up with Ashley & Nathan at And a DIY Life. Every Friday we'll be doing Things I'm Grateful For, a post looking back on the things we're grateful for.
I was really excited to join on in co-hosting, especially because in the months I've had, it's great to look back and smile at the little things I appreciate.

Ninety Degree Days ♥ Getting my senior year book ♥ Going to meet my roommate ♥ visiting the place I'll call home for the next four years ♥ writing all week ♥ beating our AP teacher at trivial pursuit ♥ being less than two weeks away from graduating high school ♥ filling out my final transcript request (I'm almost a college kid!) ♥ the wonderful people I've met on BBN ♥ lunch with a friend who's home from college ♥ erasing "study for AP tests" from my white board to-do list

Link up with Ashley + Nathan and I and do your own TIGF post!

inside Cassie's mind

Cassie and I are in the same spot.
Ready to graduate.

You see, the first book doesn't take place in 2012, it takes place in the fall of 2010. Cassie and I are the same age, so whenever I get to the point where her story is in May 2012, she'll be restless and ready to get out of town too.

But Cassie's last few weeks of high school will be much more exciting than mine. I can't give away too many details since this is book eight, but she'll be dealing with some not so nice teenage boys.

But right now, in book one, Cassie is going through some pretty crazy stuff as it is. If you've read part of the book on wattpad or figment (updated both yesterday!) you know that Cassie is being followed by this guy, simply named D. (If you didn't know that, go read!) Well, I'm almost to the point where Cassie discovers who D is.

If you've read previous drafts of this book, you probably know who D is, but if you haven't, I really hope you haven't made the connection.

Cassie is frustrated because well, she doesn't know who D is.

If you've ever had a frustrated character camped out in your head, you know how annoying it can be. I'm ready for Cassie to put the two and two together and find out who D is already.

So, if you've read what's up, who do you think D is?
